There are some information which has been verified, but not included in the catalog. Also we can judge unverified wire's compatibility solely based on its dimension. HOUSING A non-conductive part which is designed to position, protect and insulate terminals from contact wih each other or external parts. A housing designed to contain male terminals is referred to as a housing, while that designed to contain female terminals is referred to as a female housing. MALE TERMINAL A mating terminal to be connected electrically with a female terminal. There are tab/blade tye, pin type ( round head ) and pin type ( square head ) for the PCB ( Printed Circuit Board ). FEMALE TERMINAL A terminal to be connected electrically with a male terminal. This terminal has a spring device inside which generates the contact load. PLUG A device used to fill an unoccupied cavity of a sealed connector housing, type connector grommet. LANCE TYPE TERMINAL A terminal provided with a locking arms to lock it in the housing. HOUSING LANCE TYPE LOCK A plastic arm designed in the housing cavity to hold the terminal in position. CONDUCTOR GRIP The part of a terminal where the conductor ( wire without insulation ) is crimped. There are both "closed grip-type", and "open grip-type" terminals. INSULATION GRIP The part of a terminal where the insulation of the wire is crimped. LOCK A device provided on a housing to assure that physical/electrical positive contact is maintained detween the mated parts.( Terminal-to-housing, housing-to-housing ) RETAINER SPACER HOLDER A part used in conjunction with a housing to assure the terminals are in proper position for mating. DOUBLE TERMINAL LOCKING SYSTEM A system to lock terminals in a housing cavity, insert terminals completely, or increase terminal retension force by use of a secondary locking system ( spacer, pear holder, etc ). This system is used in addition to terminal lances or plastic arms in the housing cavity. HYBRID CONNECTOR A connector containing terminals of different sizes and/or configurations. IN-LINE CONNECTOR A connector soldered to the electrical conductive pathways of the printed circuit board. BUILT-IN CONNECTOR A connector integrated with an electrical component such as a regulator, wiper motor,sensors, etc. ( usually, male connectors ). JOINT CONNECTOR A connection system used to combine /joint different branches of a circuit. Typically used instead of a "wire splice". VERTICAL MOUNT TYPE A connector for the PCB ( Printed Circuit Board ) whose male and female housings are mounted vertically to the printed circuit board.
